Proud Winner of Mayor’s Climate Protection Agreement Award!

On April 20th, SOA’s new building was announced to be a winner in the “Innovative Best Practices” category for Columbia’s first annual Mayor’s Climate Protection Agreement Award!

The building, designed by, and home to, SOA and CM Engineering, was selected for its extremely energy and water efficient design.

We are honored to have our building selected as one of the nine award winners, and even more proud to do business in a community that encourages and promotes resource conservation. Columbia City Council signed the Mayor’s Climate Protection Agreement (MCPA) in 2006, from which the award program was created. Mayor McDavid said the MCPA awards were established “to recognize excellence in sustainable practices demonstrated by local businesses and organizations and promote a culture of environmental responsibility.” This video interview with Kirk Mescher of CM Engineering gives a brief overview of our building’s efficient systems and why we chose to use them.

To see our efficient building for yourself, visit us at SOA’s Open House on June 4th! More details will be posted here on our blog.
